Devin Mitchell Commits to Alabama

A fantastic recruiting week for Anthony Grant and his staff has gotten even better as Devin Mitchell - a 6'3, 170 lb SG - has committed to Alabama. Mitchell is a great offensive player who can shoot the ball extremely well, but is also quite good at creating off the dribble. His offensive prowess alone could make him an immediate contributor in his freshman season.

This has been a wonderful week for Alabama basketball. With this commitment, Grant and his staff are quickly putting together a 2014 class that could be ranked in the top 10 when all is said and done. Hopefully this positive momentum can carry over into the team's trip to Europe and the 2013-14 season when it tips off in November.

Great pickup. Who are we looking at to finish out the class?

Great pickup! So who are we looking at to finish out the class?

Technically, we are now full, but if we are able to get William Lee, I hope we do so and "oversign" by one. Attrition is almost a given in today's college basketball, so I'm sure we'll have at least one leave prematurely.

I imagine William Lee (6'8, 192 lb) now becomes a priority. Fantastic athlete whose principal strength is rebounding (definitely a need for Alabama). The question is will Bama have an available spot for him? With Mitchell's commitment, Alabama is now at their scholarship limit assuming all three guys sign, are eligible and no one from the current team leaves.

Absolutely sign one or two more if they want to come. We can always process out Engstrom if necessary.

Grant doesn't strike me as the type to "process out" a player unless that player is a problem/distraction. If Engstrom wants to return for a fifth year, I'm sure he will be welcomed with open arms.

He does not strike me as that type of guy either, but you gotta do whats best for the program, and if Lee signs with Alabama which he is expected to something has to be worked out.

In any event as DJC said you have to be prepared for some attrition.
