NIT Season Tip Off Bracket Released (Finally!)

The NIT Tip Off bracket was finally released today. Alabama's bracket includes Stillman College, McNeese State and what could prove to be a tougher than expected Georgia State team.

Initial thoughts: I find it interesting that the NIT can't fill the entire field with D-1 schools. Last season they topped off the field with Alabama-Huntsville. This year, it's Stillman and something called Metro State. This is one of the few in-season events now in which teams can still play their way to the semifinals. I would think most schools outside the power conferences would jump at the chance to play in this event.

Anyway, it's nice to finally have the schedule complete. Here is the link.

I'd like to issue an apology to Metro State. I was dismissive of them in my post. Turns out, they're not a bad program. They went 32-3 and played in the D-2 championship game a year ago.

Provided we don't suck it up we get Duke in NYC. That should be fun to see. Makes me debate whether I should head to NYC or LA for my annual road game.

I'd hit NYC. UCLA is coming to Coleman next year. Assuming both teams take care of business in the early rounds, who knows when we will see Bama/Duke in basketball again?

Assuming Steele's accounting of events is accurate, yes, that sucks.
