Our Crimson Tide travel to Columbia to play Frank Martin's South Carolina Gamecocks in a matchup of 2 sub .500 teams. In SC Lite's last game they beat Vanderbilt 65-59 at home. Note they played Thursday so it's an obviously quick turnaround for them... but at least they were at home.
SC Lite preview.
Season stats
The Gamecocks are 2-9 in conference, but all of their home losses have been close ones (losses by 1, 3, and 5 points). They did lose to Auburn at home so that gives me hope.
Brenton Williams leads the team at 13.8 PPG and is shooting 42.3% from beyond the arc. Sindari Thornwell is just behind at 13.5. Other than those 2, nothing else they have has been consistent thus why they are 9-15 overall. Like Grant, Martin has tinkered a lot with the starting lineup without much success. Let's hope that continues.
Overall, this team sucks. My only concern is them on the offensive boards as they pulled down 26 against Vandy in their last game. Keep them in check there and I think we win this one.
Some numbers to look at:
- +3.1 rebound margin
- turnover margin at -.5
- .693 FT (mostly lifted up by Williams .963)
- .429 FG
Game is on SEC TV at 4PM EST (3PM CST)

ROLL TIDE!
TREVOR THE TRUTH RELEFORD
I just feel really bad for Trevor at this point. This kid is special, and deserves better. Damn.
Yeah i know.but i think he going be drafted this year.how can he be over looked
This team can't put together two halves of good basketball. Been a problem all year. A better effort in the 1st half and Bama wins this game.
I thought a big moment in the game came when Hale stole the ball, Bama is up 2, and Hale misses a relatively easy lay-up in transition. Jimmie Taylor is a promising young player, but he had a freshman moment late not blocking out the Carolina player for the offensive board. If Grant loses his job, one of the reasons will be the lack of a reliable post player the last two seasons. It's just been a killer.
i can't figure out why obasohan logged a bunch of min. and only had 3 points

Anyone watching Florida-Kentucky? That's the level that Alabama can get to if the athletic department does the right thing. The SEC is dying for a third leg to go with those two teams right now. Why not us?
yes. UF not the most talented team but they play together. in the post-game interview, every other word out of Wilbekin's mouth is "team". nothing could be further from the truth concerning Alabama.
that out-of-the-crowd slam would easily have beaten anything in today's NBA contest.
College basketball is about coaching. This is all Billy Donovan. I'm not sure there is a better coach in the country. He has a helluva thing going there. He may be the greatest coach in SEC, and maybe even college basketball history by the time he retires.
Hahah UF is very talented. UF and Kentucky combined to sign 7 out of the top 11 Rivals basketball prospects last year. Thats how you need to recruit if you wan't to be at elite program. We haven't recruited talent like that since the 90s.
So, Alabama signed a top 5 recruiting class three years ago, and look how that worked out. UF does not have one first round pick on their roster, not one.
CAG recruits passive, compliant young men to play for him. He runs off the ones who aren't. While the meek guys may have skills, ie. Releford, you're left with a team without leaders. How often has Releford actually been a floor general? When's the last time anyone on the team directed traffic or got on someone's case for not being aggressive enough? I can't remember.
