It's April and we have schedule news! CBS Sports Jon Rothstein reported via his Twitter account that Alabama and Texas have scheduled a home-and-home series, with the first game to be played in Austin on December 2nd. Texas will return the favor for the 2017-18 season. Texas finished 20-13 and were invited to the NCAA Tournament where they lost in the first round to Northern Iowa. The Longhorns are coached by Shaka Smart. I assume Alabama will be part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge next season so expect to see another Big 12 opponent when the full schedule is released at a later date.
Other confirmed non-conference opponents for Alabama next season include home games with Dayton and Clemson, and a return game with Oregon. The non-conference schedule success that Alabama had this past season played a big part in Alabama's place on the NCAA Tournament bubble into late February. Makes sense that Avery would want to play another challenging non-conference slate.
