Saturday's tilt vs Vanderbilt is a battle of unbeatens in the SEC. Vanderbilt destroyed Auburn and won at LSU to open conference play, but I'm still not sure if they're any good or not. Like us, they didn't win a non-conference game of note.
Game preview from Vandy site.
Three players come in averaging double digits in scoring (Fisher-Davis, Kornet, and Roberson) with Roberson cleaning the boards at a healthy rate of 7.6 a game. From beyond the arc the 'Dores are shooting over 40% with Riley LaChance dropping them at almost a 60% clip (Fisher-Davis is at 43.6%).
Vanderbilt usually goes 8 deep on the roster so hopefully we can get Kornet in foul trouble and then use our height advantage inside. Kornet will be a load inside and with the inconsistent play of our big men this worries me a lot.
- 73.4 PPG
- 43.7% FG
- 40.4% 3pt FG
- +3.2 rebound
- 13.5 turnovers/game
- 77.7% FT
Prediction- I honestly have no idea here. Obviously we look a lot better on this 3 game winning streak than we have the rest of the year, but I'm not sure if this is smoke and mirrors or have we found chemistry on the court. I'll play the eternal optimist and say we figured it out so I'll go with a 74-70 Bama win.
Tip-off is 7PM EST (6PM CST) on ESPNU and watchespn.com
