Lamar Cardinals preview

A really bad Lamar team shows up in Tuscaloosa in what should be a beating of epic proportions. This team is 1-5 with an average margin of defeat being 27.8 points. Horrible doesn't begin to describe how bad they are.

As DJC noted below, this is Pat Knight's team (in his 2nd year). They made the NCAAT last season and lost in the First Four matchup with Vermont.

This season, they have yet to play a home game and won't do so until 12/29. I can't remember a team playing almost 2 months of hoops and not playing at home at least a couple times before conference play. Wow!

Rhon Mitchell and Donley Minor lead the team in scoring at 11.0 and 10.2 PPG. Mitchell is also their leading rebounder and leads in FG percentage for those that have taken more than 6 shots this season.

Size wise, their tallest player (Osas Ebomwonyi) sees the court roughly 10 MPG. Stan Brown and Nico Acosta will probably be the ones inside fighting with Gueye/Engstrom/Jacobs which should favor us greatly.

Numbers that jump out at me:
- 57.7 PPG: makes our offense look like Loyola Marymount of the early 90s.
- almost 20 turnovers a game
- .292 3pt FG

This should be a mauling... If DJC yells loud enough he might get to play the final 5 minutes. I would be disappointed if we didn't maul them by at least 25. Arkansas St crushed them by 40.

Tipoff is 11/27 @ 8PM EST (7PM CST)

Well, the way you put it anything less than a 40 point win will seem like a disappointment.
I just hope we can continue to improve on the areas where we lack. I don't really care what the score is just as long as we win and that we use the game to improve. Cincy will be a huge test, I really don't think we can win but upsets do happen and this one would be huge.

In our last game I felt that Pollard made strides, lets hope he continues on that path because whether or not he succeeds in playing his role will be a critical factor to this teams success in March.
