JaMychal Green signed to LA Clippers summer camp

It doesn't look good for him to make the roster with the Clippers sitting at 13 guaranteed slots, but maybe he'll win their hearts and find a spot at the end of the bench.

Bama/Oklahoma Tip Time Set

Alabama will tip off its 2013-14 season on November 8th at 4 PM CT against the Oklahoma Sooners. Alabama will play in the first game of a 3-game event which also includes SMU, TCU, Baylor and Colorado. Originally, the event was going to feature a fourth game between LSU and Texas, but Texas pulled out of the event. So it goes. Oklahoma has a sizable fan presence in the Dallas area so I expect them to outnumber the Tide fans in attendance, particularly with the Bama/LSU football game the following day in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama Adds Exhibition Game

Alabama has added an exhibition game to the schedule. The team will face off against the University of West Georgia on Monday, November 4th at 7:00 PM.

West Georgia is located in Carrollton, Georgia. They play in the Gulf South Conference in NCAA Division II. They had a rough season last year, finishing 9-18 overall. They return three of their top five scorers from a year ago.

I think this is a good move. The exhibition games seem to be dying in favor of the closed scrimmages, but I think the team needs to get its feet wet in a game situation before heading to Dallas for what should be a challenging game against Oklahoma.

NIT Season Tip Off Bracket Released (Finally!)

The NIT Tip Off bracket was finally released today. Alabama's bracket includes Stillman College, McNeese State and what could prove to be a tougher than expected Georgia State team.

Initial thoughts: I find it interesting that the NIT can't fill the entire field with D-1 schools. Last season they topped off the field with Alabama-Huntsville. This year, it's Stillman and something called Metro State. This is one of the few in-season events now in which teams can still play their way to the semifinals. I would think most schools outside the power conferences would jump at the chance to play in this event.

Anyway, it's nice to finally have the schedule complete. Here is the link.
