If this tweet is accurate, it appears that Anthony Grant has been fired.

the reaction to that trial balloon must have been overwhelming for them to have pulled the trigger.
It appears so. I am going to assume they received word the team will not receive an NIT bid, and decided to make the announcement today.
This quote from Battle's statement is interesting: "Today's decision is part of a larger evaluation of every facet of our
basketball program that is intended to improve every aspect of our
basketball program. A key component in that effort is to get all of our
fans pulling in the same direction, and to make Coleman Coliseum the
best home court advantage in the SEC."
Let's hope there's a shred of truth to this.
yes because we all KNOW just hiring another coach is not the total solution.
Credit to Coach Battle for making the right decision, even if it was at least one year too late. Despite my criticism of Grant, he seems like a good man and I wish him nothing but the best. If we happen to make the NIT and host a game, I will see you all in Coleman. Roll Tide.
The people have decided haha! Even if the fans email campaign was a small part of forcing the change its good to know that we were actually considered. In all seriousness though best wishes to Coach Grant as he moves forward he'll find a good assistant coaching position or head job at a smaller school. Now lets go get Ben Howland!
"Credit to Coach Battle for making the right decision....."
i don't credit him with anything. he was pushed into this by the boosters and fans. left to his own decision, this wouldn't be happening.
From ESPN.

I think the email campaign worked. I'm a happy camper! I actually have hope going forward.
Let the healing begin.
You're probably right , but considering how much criticism I've given him, I felt the need to give him credit for finally doing what I've been begging him to do for two years.
one must wonder what Wimp's motivations were last week when he announced Battle was retaining Grant. recall the camera shot of him in the crowd at the Auburn game in Coleman. the classic Wimp Scowl was in full force. the man was not happy with what he was witnessing.
ditto.
your criticism of him was well founded. no need of anything else CT, believe me.
Result of one big $$ booster and one specific BOTer. Fan outrage influenced their involvement not Battle's. Getting it 2nd/3rd hand so not sure how much validity. Regardless, glad the move was made. Might need to start prepping the wife next winter my time may not be so available as this year.
Big thanks to Coach Grant for being a class act and hope he lands somewhere soon.
Wimp still a big leader of the program behind the scenes. Suspect he plays a large part in selecting the next coach. CM didn't do so well with the last one.
Oh, I'm not eating any crow until he impresses with this hire.
I think that as early as last week the plan was to retain Grant. I really think if Bama beats Florida on Thursday, Grant is still the coach.
Wimp knew what he was doing.
yup
I've read the final decision was not made until this morning.
I think seeing Pearl all over tv n da buzz he's creating at Auburn forced his hand
